Ever have the urge to write something without actually having anything to say? Well, I have, and it’s annoying. It’s not the first time I have this feeling, it happens to me all the time. Each time I see my tumblr or Hyves page—that’s a Dutch social network, a bit like MySpace—I think “Hm, I haven’t posted a (substantial) blog lately, let’s try and write something now. Then I click the “Add blog/Add a Text Post” button, the page loads and the empty text box stares at me, asking me to write something—anything. After having stared at an empty screen for five minutes, I give up.
Now I decided to just write a blog about writing without having anything to say.
That’s why I’ll write about some everyday things that nobody cares about, really. But look at it from my point of view: What’s the point of having a blog without posting anything to it? OK, so I reblog pictures that I like, but that’s not my own stuff, you know what I’m saying?
Let’s begin.
Tomorrow, some of my class mates will be performing a French play, written by Sartre. It’s called “Les Jeux Sont Faits”—or “The Chips Are Down” in English. They’ll perform the whole play in French, and it will take for about an hour. I’m excited to see what they’ve created, as one of them told me yesterday they’re not quite done yet.
The day after, I’ll probably go to Amsterdam to do an interview with a guy named Hans Neevel, and he’s found a way to conserve paper. We have to do an interview with him and make a video of that for one of our classes in school.
This weekend I hope I’ll be able to lay back a little, because there’s a lot of things going on the next couple weeks. We’re going on a school trip to Greece for one week, from April 22 to April 29, and most of our teachers want set tests before that week, and it has resulted in seven tests and assignments in a normal week—normally it’s no more than two or three. I hope I’ll manage everything, it’s going to be a lot of work…
Well, I think that’s it. I’m actually pretty satisfied with what this blog has turned out to be. It’s not utter crap as my English teacher sometimes says about lines such as “Walking down the beach, the sun set.”
More blogs are coming up soon, when I have something to write about.
